Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate , Prakash Javadekar said “This is not an Indian Culture to feed fire crackers and kill ” on the killing of a Pregnant Elephant , who ate a pineapple stuffer with fire crackers.
In a tweet made by the Union Minister, Javadekar, it was as follows:”Central Government has taken a very serious note of the killing of an elephant in Mallapuram, #Kerala. We will not leave any stone unturned to investigate properly and nab the culprit(s).This is not an Indian Culture to feed fire crackers and kill.”
Few days back the Pregnant Elephant had strolled up in a village near Silent Valley National Park in Palakkad , neighbouring district of Malappuram , Kerala. Over there it ate a pineapple stuffed with explosives (fire crackers) and which exploded in its mouth. Then it kept walking for days , before it went into a river in pain and died standing , on 27th of May , 2020. As per the officials, the Elephant may have eaten the furit , 20 days back approximately, as visible from its shrunken form.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against unknown persons in this case. Though no arrests have been made so far.
Pinarayi Vijayan , Kerala Chief Minister, has ensured strict actions to be taken against those who are to be held responsible for this shameful deed. He said ” Strict action will be taken against those who are responsible for killing the Pregnant Elephant. Forest Department is probing the case and the culprits will be brought to book.”
Mohan Krishnan, one of the forest officers posted in Malappuram, wrote an emotional note on his Facebook Page as ” When we saw her she was standing in the river with her head dipped in the water . She had a sxith sense that she was going to die . She took the Jalasamadhi in the river in a standing position”. He further added ” She didn’t harm a single human being even when she ran in searin pain in the streets of the village. ”
