On the second day of the monsoon session in Parliament, Samajwadi Party MP and former actress Jaya Bachchan spoke about an alleged “conspiracy to defame the film industry”. He gave a notice in the Rajya Sabha, which can be taken up for important matters with the approval of the Speaker.
Jaya’s speech came at a time when there is a dispute regarding the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the investigation related to drugs in the case. Following the arrest of Riya Chakraborty, several questions have been raised about some alleged activities in the film industry.
Jaya said, “People in the entertainment industry are being instigated through social media. People making their name in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree. I hope the government will tell such people not to use such language. “
Earlier actress Kangana Ranaut called the film industry a “drain” and alleged that 99% of the people working in it are exposed to drugs.
To which Jaya replied, “Just because there are few people, you cannot tarnish the image of the entire industry.” I feel ashamed that yesterday one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the film industry, spoke against me. It’s a shame.” He referred to the comments made by BJP MP Ravi Kishan on Monday.
In a tweet, Kangana Ranaut said on Tuesday, “Jaya ji would you say the same thing if my daughter Shweta was beaten, drugged and molested as a teenager in my place.” Will you say the same when Abhishek complains about bullying and harassment.
