For those who are a Gmail User and using Windows 10 as the device , using Microsoft’s Mail Application to manage Gmail need to be aware as Windows 10 Mail is deleting emails.
This problem has been acknowledged by Microsoft on one of their Community Pages. The bug hasn’t been resolved from Microsoft’s side though. The only thing which they have suggested for the meanwhie is to operate Gmail on Web Browser to avoid the emails from getting deleted.
Phil C , Insider MVP , in a reply to a Windows 10 user said , ” I have done some further study into the matter into this problem. The latest verison of Windows Mail has broken the settings for Gmail . The automated method for adding the account using the Google link provided by the Mail app no longer works. The best way to work around it is to remove the Gmail account from the Mail app and then re-add it manually via the other account POP/IMAP route using the IMAP settings using the Gmail help “.
In response to another problem that Microsoft has with Gmail re-classifying the Windows10 Mail App as a less secure app , to which Phil C replied as , “One other thing you may have to do is change a security setting in Google to allow access to less secure apps . Google now considers the Window Mail Apps a less secure app and therefore blocks it from doing a task”.
