Three days after Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti commented on the Indian flag and Article 370, the three leaders left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Jammu and Kashmir today, saying their remarks had “hurt the feelings of patriotism” .
Recently, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said that she will not hoist the national flag until Jammu and Kashmir’s flag and its constitution are restored. He also claimed that he was unwilling to contest in the valley without restoring Section 370 which was repealed on 5 August 2019.
PDP leaders TS Bajwa, Ved Mahajan and Hussain A Wafa sent resignation letters to party chief Mehbooba Mufti.
On Saturday, the People’s Alliance appointed Farooq Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference in Srinagar as its chairman and Mehbooba Mufti as its vice-president for the Guptkar Manifesto, which is struggling for restoration of special status for Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah stressed that the seven-party alliance is an anti-BJP platform and not an anti-national group.
